The Softening Series, Wales

Llwybe Pedair Sgwd (Four Falls Trail) at Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales - join me for an unguided meditation in the realm of fairies.

Welcome to The Softening Series—gentle, weekly meditations filmed live and in nature, where all sound is possible and probable.

Each meditation is an invitation to soften. As you inhale, imagine the energy of love—or the magic of this place—coming into your lungs. As you exhale, soften the grip of control, the tension in the jaw, the pressure of “shoulds,” the fear of the unknown, and the urge to push through.

We are also taking the concept of “no time and space” from Reiki to explore how to connect to and work with land energy without being physically at the place.

These 2–10 minute practices are here to help you reconnect with the body, release emotional tension, and feel your way into balance.
We breathe into the belly. We observe. We listen. We remember that presence is enough.

This area is known for its 4 waterfalls (Sqwd) and as the residence of fairies. As such, I immediately introduced myself and asked for permission to explore the land.

It was granted for me and for you!

The week before last, we heard the Afon Mellte (river) just upstream from Sgwd y Pannwr.

The river is flowing from left to right and over the falls in this photo. It was where I stood to take the photo that the walking stick for Kate was gifted to me.

Sqwd y Pannwr is where Kate and I were gifted a cane to ease Kate’s journey. And, there was a flat area where you could sit and reflect. This is where I filmed the journey.

Here’s a map so you can follow along.

We actually went to Sqwd yr Eira (today’s waterfall) first on our hike. That’s number 38 on the map.

Then, we swung around to Sqwd y Pannwr (near number 30). You can listen to the nearby stream here. To get a sonic landscape. ☺️

Along the way, we passed the occasional fairy complex. This fallen tree does look like it could offer housing, doesn’t it? 🧚🏽

Can you see the little openings and balconies?

Back to today.

We’re connecting with the energy of Sgwd yr Eira (the name of the waterfall).

Getting a photo with nobody in it was difficult! You can see a person or two behind the waterfall.

You can feel the power of the water and land through the video, which is why I have asked permission of the land to use it for The Softening Series. This land roots you, listens, and clears. It provides a portal to some.

If you walk through it, you see reality from a different perspective.

Aaacha! I only have a photo of the portal with me in it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ The water cascading behind me feels so magical—like you would move into another world if you passed through.

That offering becomes the gift of serenity in transition and change for the flow of water show us that we are ever changing.

Take a moment to introduce yourself to the water and land via the photos before playing the video. Ask for assistance in softening what or where you would like to release.

Then, begin your softening practice.

  • Breathing into the belly. Fill both lungs with air.

  • As you exhale soften the area you would like to release (thought, emotion, or part of the body).

  • Breathing in love as you fill each lung with air.

  • As you exhale again soften the area you would like to release (or a different area).

Repeat as many times and in as many ways that feels right to you.

Thank the water and the land as you finish.

I may have been here a year or more ago, yet I am here with you now as you do your practice. Even as my feet left the beauty of Brecon Beacons National Park, I felt as though I was still there.

That I am always here softening in the magic of this Welsh landscape.

Let’s close the circle together when you are done with the meditation. What offering would you like to give?

It was after I gave a walking stick that was lent to me for Kate back to the land with a prayer of thanksgiving that the skies opened up and we were washed clear (read about it here).

Now, we walk together on the return path to the car. (see the pink/purple flowers and rock? Those flowers and the rock we walked (scrolled on the computer) past on the way in.)

The circle is closed. Thank you for sharing this journey with me.

Create your own sacred journey through the British Isles with spirit through the book 🪄Magical Britain🪄 by Rob Wildwood.

I ordered my copy through my local bookstore, Eagle Eye, but you might be able to snag one on Amazon.

From Eve and Kate’s Magical Tour of Britain and Wales, Summer 2024

Guided by a dog-eared copy of Magical Britain by Rob Wildwood,
we followed the call of ancient earth and ancestral memory.
Each day led us to sacred places—springs, stone circles, and hills—
where the land itself seemed to rise and greet us.

We listened.
To the pulse beneath the soil, the whispers in the breeze, the call of the crows,
and the quiet hum of ley lines, rivers, and yew tress.

Every site welcomed us as pilgrims.
The magic was potent, the air thickening our bodies tingling.
It was as if the land remembered us.

And we?
We remembered ourselves.

*Full disclosure: The recording is edited. These were sound bites (🍕). I didn’t realized I’d be baking a whole pizza with The Softening Series!
