Learning to Read Signs: The Early Days
In the beginning, reading signs felt like a cosmic scavenger hunt sans instructions. Was that a message from Spirit or just a bird doing bird things? π€·π»ββοΈ
Welcome to Sanctum with Eve β a space for realignment through sound, energy, and reflection.
This is more than a newsletter. Itβs an invitation to soften, to return, and to remember whatβs already within you.
Here, we walk together β through the deeper layers of self, shadow, and wisdom β exploring spiritual practice, Reiki, dreamwork, sound, and the unseen rhythms shaping our lives. Youβll find reflections, resources, and real stories that speak to integration β to the lived, daily embodiment of your spiritual awakening
When I first started tuning into signs from Spirit, I was basically an explorer with an upside down map. I didnβt know what I was looking for, where to look, or whether a hawk flying by was profound or just... a hawk. Sometimes itβs both.
The thing about signs is: when you're spiritually awakening is that one day it's like you live inside a movie featuring all the signs and the next you're frustrated and shouting to the sky: "Anytime now. A sign. Any sign."
We use signs for so many things β to feel connected to Spirit, to validate our choices, to receive guidance from loved ones, to navigate relationships, to track our health, to find timing for decisions, to comfort ourselves, to affirm our creative work, and sometimes just to make sense of the mystery and feel less alone.
(We donβt usually use them to choose what to eat, but Iβll be honestβIβve looked for them when a decision did not feel forthcoming.)
Why this topic now? MANY years after Mathew McConaughey published Greenlights, I am finally listening to it and all the talk about signs has me looking back at some of my own.
Hereβs a funny recap of one of my early encountersβchalk full of missed signs, this learning curve had us off roading. Iβm sharing it because looking back is funny. Also, because sometimes donβt show up as you expectβdid you see what I did there? I didnβt even give you the word βsignβ! As I was saying, signs can be tricky and are often learned in hindsight.
Think of this story like a spiritual version of Where's Waldo and see how many signs you can spot. The debrief is coming soon. Before this interpretation lands next Sunday, let me know in the comments: What are all the signs you see?
Here we goβ¦
Our sacred circle event was coming to a close, and Spirit asked me to increase the volume of energy I was channeling. I shifted to allow the energy to pass through me, and the lights in the room and outside began to flash.
I could feel the hum of energy like a beehive beneath my skin. It was beautiful. A loving softness filled the air.
Around us, the boundary of the circle and the energy of the space was contained for optimal balancing and harmonizing of body, mind, and spirit for the individuals present.
Our voices raised as one, echoed through the rooms as we chanted a mantra of coming into the loving embrace of the Divine.
The co-facilitator got up and began walking counterclockwise to the circle. As they attempted to open their camera and film the group, the music suddenly shut off.
Silence.
I stopped chanting mid note, turning my gaze to the co-facilitator, confused. The person apologized profusely, with a few taps to their phone restarted the music, and our voices again rose in harmony.
Just as I got stabilized in my chanting, my co-facilitator turned the music off. Again profusely apologizing to the group, they restarted the music.
This time, however, we were ready for the break in sound and kept the mantra going when the room became suddenly silent.
The person got the music back on and then began filmingβI imagine the effect of the music made for a better video. Third time is a charmβ¦
And there we are. Stories finished. Let me know what you think they are in the comments!
3 signs? Walking counterclockwise, trying to use camera in silence of a sacred space twice.
